In the Gospel of John, we hear,” For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him, might not perish but might have eternal life.” We believe that God sent Jesus Christ into the world out of love for us and that He sacrificed his son to redeem us. Our faith is based on this revelation that God became man, in Jesus Christ, to show us how much he loves us and to live as good children of God. In our effort to be children of God, there is a need for renewing our relationship with him, by repenting over our sins and returning to the Lord in prayer and penance. That is what we are all busy with in this season of Lent, so that we may celebrate with joy the rising of Christ at Easter. Lent is also a time when we go out of our way to help our brothers and sisters to show that God loves all of us.
